This small town of Kangra district is divided into two parts. The first part of the city is called Lower Dharamshala, and the second part is called Upper Dharamshala i.e. McLeodganj. The distance from Lower Dharamshala to McLeodganj is about nine kilometers and is the biggest attraction here.

In Lower Dharamshala you have more options for shopping and seeing old buildings. The Kotwali market adjacent to Dharamshala’s bus stand is the city’s most bustling area. In this market, you can do the desired shopping at a much lower price than McLeodganj.

By Train : Pathankot is the nearest station for people coming by train, Go from Old Delhi railway station to Pathankot by Kashmir Mail and Dholadhar Express. Himachal roadways and private bus services are available from here to Dharamshala. The distance from Pathankot to Dharamsala is 78 km, which can be covered in two and a half to three hours. Rent – Rs 90 to Rs 100 per.

The best time to travel to Dharamshala depends on what you want to do and see. Generally, the best time to visit is from March to June and from September to November, when the weather is pleasant and ideal for outdoor activities. The monsoon season (July and August) should be avoided as heavy rainfall can cause landslides and disrupt travel plans. The winter months (December to February) can be quite cold, with temperatures dropping to below freezing point, but it can also be a great time to visit if you enjoy snowfall and winter sports. Keep in mind that if you plan to visit during peak tourist season (March to June), it is advisable to make your bookings well in advance to ensure availability of accommodations and activities.

The ‘Baijnath Shiva Temple’ here is one of the most magnificent temples in the Kangra Valley. The ancient name of this city was ‘Kirgram’. It got its name Baijnath due to Shiva Vaidyanath. 63 km from Dharamshala This remote village is famous for Buddhist monasteries. Hang gliding drivers use this place as their landing place. Bir is surrounded by tea plantations. Bir is also an amphitheater at the bottom of the hills and this area is an ideal place for para gliders to descend. The Buddhist monastery at Bir and the Tibetan handicrafts sold in them are also very popular. Beeling village is in the upper part of Bir. It is popularly known as the most important aerosports center of the country.
